For this project we were assigned to follow along with tutorials in order to make a physical clear pyramid out of CD cases, and a video that would produce the final hologram.
So in order to start the project, we chose an object, and then recorded that object spinning on a spinning surface. For mine, I choose a pink dinosaur because I felt like it was going to stand out.
After recording, we followed along with the directions in order to create the proper video.
Here is an image of my editing screen, showing a bit of that creation process
What was interesting about working on this project, was that I got to learn how to create a video using Photoshop. Normally with video projects I think to work with Adobe Premiere or another editing service.
The next stage was to create the physical object that would help project the animation. This involved carefully cutting cd cases into triangles, and then gluing (or taping) them together.
Here is an images of that process:
Once this was made, I placed the object over my video (which was exported and now uploaded to YouTube), and it was able to create the hologram effect.
Overall creating this project was interesting since it allowed me to merge working with the physical space, but as well the digital space. In the future, I would like to see what else you could create using these types of videos or tools.
Below, are my two videos that I made for this project. The first is the flat video that plays on the iPad in order to make the hologram work, and then the second is a video of the hologram itself.
